Why We Are Called Black Swamp
Our name comes from the Great Black Swamp, the huge wetland that once covered most of Northwest Ohio. Settlers drained it in the 1800s, and the flat, rich farmland around Perrysburg is what's left today.
Perrysburg sat on the edge of that swamp along the Maumee River. We picked the name because we work here and want a name that belongs here.
